A 14-year-old boy will appear in court today following a series of robberies involving a stun gun that occurred across Sydney recently.
About 5.15am on Tuesday (13 September 2011), the boy allegedly used a stun gun on a 32-year-old woman’s arm, before making off with her handbag on Campbell Parade, Parramatta.
It is alleged that about 6am the same day, the boy then entered a store on Rookwood Road, Yagoona and threatened the shopkeeper with a knife in order to steal cash and cigarettes.
Police will also allege that about 6.10am yesterday (Thursday 14 September 2011) this boy was one of three offenders who used a stun gun on a taxi driver on Glebe Point Road, Glebe, attempting to rob him of his vehicle.
Forensic evidence was located at the Yagoona robbery, which allegedly linked the boy to the crimes.
About 10.15am yesterday (Thursday 14 October 2011), police arrested the 14-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy that was with him, on Harris Street in Sydney.
Police will allege that upon searching the 14-year-old boy, they found a black electronic stun secreted in his clothing.
He was arrested and taken to City Central Police Station where he was charged with the following offences:
– 2 counts of Armed Robbery with Dangerous Weapon
– Armed Robbery with Offensive Weapon
– Assault with intent to rob while armed with Dangerous Weapon
– Possess Prohibited Weapon
– Breach of Bail
He was refused bail and will appear in Bidura Children’s Court today (Friday 16 September 2011).
The 17-year-old boy was released without charge.
