A man has been arrested by detectives following an armed robbery at a hotel in Emerton in June.
Strike Force Plasto comprises of detectives from the Metropolitan Robbery Unit and was established to investigate a series of armed robbery offences that occurred in licensed premises in the Sydney metropolitan area this year.
About 3am on Tuesday 14 June 2011, a hotel on Popendetta Road in Emerton was robbed at gunpoint and a sum of cash was taken.
A short time later, a vehicle alleged to have been used in the robbery was found torched in Kilto Road, Glendenning.
The owner of this vehicle, a 31-year-old man from Greenacre, reported the vehicle stolen and was reimbursed through his insurance company.
At 12.45pm yesterday (Tuesday 4 October 2011), detectives from the Metropolitan Robbery Unit attended the man’s house, where he was arrested and taken to Campsie Police Station.
The man was charged with:
– Accessory before the fact to robbery whilst armed with a dangerous weapon;
– Dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception;
– Do act with intent to pervert the cause of justice;
– Knowingly deal with proceeds of crime;
– Possess anabolic steroid agent.
He was refused bail and will appear in Burwood Local Court today (5 October 2011).
The man is the 12th person to be arrested and charged by Strike Force Plasto detectives.
