Police have arrested and charged a man following the alleged armed robbery of a petrol station at Liverpool earlier in the week.

 About 11:10pm, Tuesday 11 October 2011, a man entered the petrol station on Elizabeth Drive while allegedly armed with a silver pistol.

 The man, who was wearing a balaclava, allegedly approached the 30-year-old male attendant and demanded money and cigarettes.

 He was handed an amount of cash which was placed into a plastic bag before running from the store along Marsden Road.

 A witness later reported seeing the man get into a silver-coloured vehicle and leave the area.

 Detectives from Liverpool Local Area Command commenced investigations into the robbery and attended a house in Morven Street, Old Guildford about 11:35am yesterday (Wednesday 12 October 2011).

 At the premises police allegedly recovered a black replica handgun, two balaclavas, an amount of clothing and cash believed to be the proceeds of the robbery.

  silver-coloured Honda Accord was also located at the premises and has been seized for forensic examination.

 A 19-year-old man was arrested the scene and taken to Fairfield Police Station where he was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon and accessory after the fact to robbery armed/in company.

 He was refused bail to appear in Fairfield Local Court today (Thursday 13 October 2011).
