A teenage boy has been charged following the alleged armed robbery of a convenience store at Kanahooka earlier in the month.
About 4:30pm, Saturday 1 October 2011, two males rode a motorcycle to the convenience store on Lakeside Drive, Kanahooka.
One of the males walked into the store and threatened the shopkeeper with a knife and allegedly held it to his throat while demanding cash.
The armed male was given money from the register before he walked to an alley way and met the other male who was waiting on the motorcycle.
Police will allege the pair rode from the scene before hiding the motorcycle on Walbon Crescent, Koonawarra where they changed their clothes and walked to a nearby house.
Following investigations by police from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command, a 16-year-old boy was arrested at his home about 3:30pm on Wednesday 12 October 2011.
He was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station and charged with accessory after the fact to robbery armed with an offensive weapon and dealing with the proceeds of crime.
He has been refused bail to appear in Port Kembla Children’s Court today (Thursday 13 October 2011).
Investigations to locate the second male allegedly involved in the robbery are continuing.
