A woman will face court tomorrow after she allegedly tried to rob a convenience store in Sydney’s CBD.
About 5.50pm today (Saturday 5 November 2011), the woman entered a convenience store on Oxford Street, Surry Hills, where she allegedly picked up a hammer from one of the shelves and threatened staff with it.
The woman allegedly demanded money and a struggle ensued after staff refused to hand any money over.
Police were called and attended the location a short time later where they arrested the woman after a brief struggle.
The 28-year-old woman was taken to Surry Hills Police Station and charged with attempted armed robbery, demand money with menaces and assault police.
She was refused bail and will appear in Central Local Court tomorrow (Sunday 6 November 2011).
