Police have arrested a man over an armed robbery which saw a bowling club patron shot in the stomach near Newcastle earlier this year. Strike Force Kerwin was established in June this year to investigate numerous armed robberies in the Newcastle area. One of those occurred at a bowling club in North Lambton on June 16. A club patron suffered a gunshot wound to his stomach. The man, aged in his 60s, underwent 13 operations and spent seven weeks recovering in hospital This morning, heavily-armed police raided a home in Moree and arrested a 24-year-old man. He has been arrested in relation to the North Lambton armed robbery, an armed robbery at Carrington on May 22 this year and several others. Detectives from the strike force are currently travelling to Moree and will formally interview the man tonight. He will be charged with shooting with intent to murder and with multiple armed robbery offences. The man will be refused bail and is expected to appear at Moree Local Court tomorrow.
