A man will face court today charged with the armed robbery of a fast-food outlet in the Hunter region earlier this month.

About 5:30am on Tuesday 17 January 2012, two men entered the business on Allandale Road, Cessnock, allegedly armed with a knife and a gun.

Police will allege the men forced the store’s manager to open two safes and place money in a bag.

The men then left the premises with the cash via a rear door.

No-one was injured in the incident.

Strike Force Blumer is led by the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad, with assistance from local area commands in the Hunter and Central Coast regions. It is investigating this and other recent robberies in those areas.

About 4.10pm yesterday (Tuesday 24 January 2012), Strike Force Blumer detectives attended a residence in The Entrance Road, The Entrance, where they arrested a 32-year-old man and took him to Wyong Police Station.

The man was charged with robbery whilst armed with a dangerous weapon and refused bail to appear at Wyong Local Court today (Wednesday 25 January 2012).
