Police are appealing for witnesses after a number of patrons were injured during an armed robbery at a sport’s club in Sydney’s south-west.

About 9.30pm yesterday (Sunday 18 March 2012), three men entered the club on Elder Street, Dundas, and threatened a number of patrons with a firearm and knife.

The men ordered the patrons to get on the floor before one of them dragged a male employee into the back office and demanded he open the safe.

They then took a sum of cash before returning to threaten the patrons.

A 76-year-old woman was struck in the face with the firearm while a number of other patrons were also assaulted.

Police have been told the men stole personal items from patrons before fleeing.

Emergency services were notified and officers attached to Rosehill Local Area Command, along with NSW Ambulance Paramedics, attended the scene.

The 76-year-old was taken to Ryde Hospital with head and shoulder injuries while a 50-year-old woman was taken to Westmead Hospital suffering a neck injury.

A crime scene was established which was examined by specialist forensic officers and a canvass of the area was conducted with assistance from the Dog Unit.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or any suspicious activity in the vicinity of Elder Street, Dundas, to come forward. It’s believed the men left the area in a vehicle parked in nearby Albemarle Place.

All three men were wearing dark clothing and had their faces concealed
