Police are appealing for witnesses after a 38-year-old man was attacked at a St Kilda hotel over the weekend.

Detectives said the man was at a hotel on Fitzroy Street when he was approached and assaulted by another man just after midnight on Sunday morning.

The man was punched several times to the face causing him to fall down, whilst the offender continued to assault him.

It’s alleged the male offender immediately fled the scene with two other women and a man.

He is described as Caucasian in appearance, medium build, about 183 cm tall with short dark hair.

He was wearing jeans and a light coloured t shirt.

The injured St Kilda man was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital where he was treated for facial fractures.

Police have released an image of a man that they believe may be able to assist with their enquires.
