Police have charged a man over the armed robbery of a pharmacy in the State’s Hunter Valley region yesterday.

About 1.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 24 July 2012), a pharmacy on Cessnock Street, Abermain, was robbed at knife-point.

Police from Central Hunter Local Area Command were called and attended a short time later establishing a crime scene.

During the course of their inquiries, officers attended a Cessnock address where they arrested a 23-year-old man and took him to Cessnock Police Station.

A short time later another 23-year-old man was arrested at Cessnock Police Station.

Both men have been charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon.

They have been refused bail and will appear before Maitland Local Court today (25 July 2012).
