Police are investigating the armed robbery of a hotel at Petersham in Sydney’s inner-west this morning.
About 9:30am, Thursday 2 August 2012, a stolen gold Jeep Cherokee drove into the driveway of the hotel on Stanmore Road.
Three men armed with a pistol and knives exited the Jeep and approached an employee who was forced into the bottle shop and made to hand over cash from the register before being locked in a vehicle.
The men, who had their faces covered, then kicked in the front door of the hotel and a gained access to the premises.
Another employee heard the commotion and ran onto a balcony before climbing onto the roof to escape the armed men.
The robbers took more cash from the premises before fleeing the scene. No one was injured during the robbery and no shots were fired.
Police from Marrickville Local Area Command and the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad attended the hotel and established a crime scene which was examined by the Forensic Armed Robbery Unit.
Investigators are now looking for the three men. The first man is described as having a medium build and wearing a white hooded jumper. He had his face covered by a piece of cloth.
The second man is described as having a medium build and wearing a black balaclava and dark jumper.
The third man is described as having a medium build and wearing a dark jumper with light coloured hood. He also had his face covered by a piece of cloth.
