A 22-year-old man has been charged with five offences following police investigations into the alleged armed robbery of a video store at Annerley overnight.

Around 9.50pm, a man entered the Ipswich Road store and allegedly threatened the attendant while claiming to be armed before fleeing with a sum of cash.

A man was detained by police in the area a short time later with two knives allegedly in his possession alongside a sum of cash.

The 22-year-old is due to appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court, today, on one count each of stealing, armed robbery, obstruct police, possession of a knife in a public place, and entering a premises with intent to commit an indictable offence.

The store attendant was not physically injured during the incident.
