Police investigating the armed robbery of an Ormeau service station are seeking public assistance to help identify a man depicted in CCTV images.

Around 4.30am the Peachey Rd business was robbed by a man who claimed to be armed.

He obtained an amount of cash and stole an item from a shelf before leaving the store.

The man is described as being of African appearance and of slim build. He was wearing sunglasses, a black hooded jumper with a white pattern, black pants and white shoes.

The console operator was not physically injured during the robbery.
