Detectives from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding an alleged armed robbery at a service station in Port Kembla last night.

About 8.45 pm (7 June), the sole attendant at the service station on Church Street, Port Kembla, was approached by two men.

It is alleged that one of the men was armed with a claw hammer, while the other was carrying a kitchen knife.

The men demanded that the attendant open the register and give them cash. They then ran from the premises into Railway Lane.

No-one was injured in the incident.

Police now wish to speak with two men who they believe can help with their inquiries.

The first man is described as being about 165cm tall with a thin build. The other man is described as being about 178 cm tall.
