Police have charged two men over an alleged armed robbery and vehicle theft at a car wash in Sydney’s west this week.

Just before 4.30pm on Wednesday (25 October 2012), two men entered the car wash on Gallipoli Street, St Marys, armed with a knife.
Police will allege the pair threatened a 26-year-old male employee, who was working alone in a back office, and demanded he give them the keys to his car.
He complied and one of the offenders ran outside to the vehicle while the other allegedly stole cash and the man’s mobile phone.
Both fled in the stolen car, a Ford Falcon XR8, and police were alerted.
Officers from St Marys Local Area Command attended and launched an investigation into the incident.
After the robbery numerous calls were made to Triple Zero (000) concerning the manner of driving of the stolen car in the Cecil Park and Kemps Creek area.

Just after 1pm yesterday (Thursday 25 October 2012), police received reports the stolen car had been sighted in Penrith.

St Marys detectives responded and spotted the car on Dunheved Road at Werrington.

A pursuit was initiated and continued through a number of suburbs before the car collided with a truck on Richmond Road, Penrith.

The driver and passenger were both taken to hospital under police guard.

The truck driver was not injured.

The driver of the stolen car, a 36-year-old man, was taken to Westmead Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

He was charged in hospital with robbery while armed with an offensive weapon; take and drive conveyance without consent of owner; police pursuit –not stop – drive dangerously (Skye’s Law); and never licensed person drive vehicle on road.

He will face a bedside hearing today (Friday 26 October 2012).

The 47-year-old male passenger was taken to Nepean Hospital with minor injuries.

He was released overnight and taken to St Marys Police Station where he was charged with robbery while armed with an offensive weapon; and be carried in conveyance without consent of owner.

He was refused bail to appear before Penrith Local Court today.
