Police are investigating the theft from an ATM at the Meadows hotel overnight.
Alarms were activated at about 3.30am when three intruders broke into the hotel and using a chain, attempted to drag the ATM out. This failed and with the machine on its side the offenders jemmied it open to steal the cash. They fled however no vehicle was seen. This theft follows three similar incidents early Saturday morning where ATM’s were targeted.
The first incident was at about 3.40am when thieves attempted to break into the ATM at the Foodland on Seacombe Road, Darlington. They left empty-handed.
This attempt was followed by another at the Seacliff Hotel on the Esplanade where offenders made an concerted effort on an ATM using a sledge hammer, a jemmy bar and a concrete cutter which they left behind as they fled.
The third was at the Port Noarlunga Hotel where three men jemmied foyer doors of the hotel and then hooked up the hotel ATM to a Holden ute and pulled it out through the doors.
CCTV vision from the Meadows hotel shows one of the offenders wearing an orange or hi-visibility shirt and the other two wearing dark hooded tops.
