Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy in relation to the attempted street robbery of another boy in Sydney’s west last year.
On the afternoon of 30 November 2010, a 14-year-old boy was walking through a car park at Carramar when two youths yelled out to him.
The boy attempted to run away but the two youths caught up to him and allegedly demanded his possessions before he was punched in the face.
A passer-by intervened and the boy ran from the scene, but was chased by one of the youths who allegedly assaulted him before the passer-by again intervened.
The boy, who suffered minor injuries, was able to escape with his possessions intact.
Following extensive inquiries, police yesterday (Tuesday 14 June) attended a home at Carramar and arrested a 16-year-old boy.
He was taken to Fairfield Police Station before being charged with aggravated assault with intent to rob and assault with intent to rob in company.
The boy was granted conditional bail to appear at Parramatta Children’s Court on 6 July.
Inquiries into a second youth are ongoing.
