A critical incident investigation team has been formed after a man sustained a number of injuries at North Parramatta this morning.

About 2.45am today (Saturday 18 June) officers attached to Parramatta Local Area Command responded to reports of break-ins at a number of shops in Iron Street, North Parramatta.

On arrival police located three men who allegedly ran from the scene.

Two males, aged 32 and 21, were arrested after a foot pursuit

A police officer sustained a shoulder injury during the pursuit and has undergone treatment at Westmead Hospital

The Police Dog Unit attended and located a third man about 4am,

The man – who is believed to be aged in his 30s – refused to comply with a number of police requests to surrender and continued to move between a roof area and other levels of the building.

About 7.30am he was arrested on the roof and treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for various cuts.

About 8am the man was still undergoing medical treatment, when he allegedly attempted to escape, jumping several metres to the ground.

He sustained a broken right leg and is currently under guard at Westmead Hospital where he is undergoing treatment.

A critical incident investigation team comprising officers from Gladesville LAC is examining the circumstances surrounding the incident.
