Detectives investigating a spate of armed robberies in Sydney’s west have charged a woman with firearm supply.

Earlier this year, officers attached to the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad formed Strike Force Nutba to investigate a number of incidents, including:

– The armed robbery of a recreational facility in Campbelltown on 2 February 2014;

– The armed robbery of a restaurant in Narellan on 5 February 2014;

– The attempted armed robbery of a restaurant in Campbelltown on 6 February 2014; and,

– The armed robbery of a restaurant in Penrith on 10 February.

Each robbery involved at least two men entering the property, and threatening a cleaner with a firearm, before attempting to gain access to any on-site cash.

Following inquiries, detectives executed search warrants at homes in Ambarvale and Claymore last week (Wednesday 14 May 2014).

During the search warrants, police located and seized a number of items suspected to have been stolen, including two detonators, two python snakes, two Harley Davidson motorcycles, and prohibited weapons.

Three men – aged 31, 28, and 50 – were arrested last Wednesday. All remain before the courts.

Yesterday, detectives arrested a 37-year-old woman at a property in Leeton in the state’s south. She was taken to Leeton Police Station where she was charged with supply prohibited firearm and possess prohibited drug, before being bail refused to appear in Griffith Local Court today (Wednesday 21 May 2014).

A 32-year-old woman, also present at the property in Leeton when police attended, will be issued with a future court attendance notice for drug possession.

Inquiries by Strike Force Nutba are continuing.
