Police are appealing for public assistance following an armed robbery at a convenience store in North Wollongong yesterday.
About 5.45pm (Saturday 24 May 2014), a man entered the store on Bourke Street and threatened the female attendant with a sword.
The man fled the location a short time later with cash and was last seen running west along Bourke Street.
No one was injured during the incident.
Officers attached to Wollongong Local Area Command were contacted a short time later and launched an investigation.
A crime scene was established at the location and examined by detectives and forensic specialists.
Police from the Dog Unit also conducted an extensive search of the surrounding area; however the man was not found.
Inquiries into the incident are continuing and police would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist in the investigation.
The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 20-30 years of age, 165-175cm tall and of a skinny build.
He was last seen wearing black track suit pants and a navy blue hooded jumper.
Anyone who knows the man’s identity of has any information that could assist police is urged to come forward.
