Police are appealing for public assistance following an armed robbery at a store in Belmore yesterday afternoon.
About 4pm (Thursday 29 May 2014), a man driving a white Hyundai Excel with stolen number plates pulled up outside the store on Burwood Road.
He entered the store and threatened the female shop attendant with a knife while demanding cash.
The man left the store with cash a short time later and was last seen driving north along Burwood Road.
No one was injured during the incident.
Officers from Campsie Local Area Command were contacted and launched an investigation into the incident.
A crime scene was established at the store and examined by specialist forensic officers.
Police also conducted extensive patrols of the surrounding area, however the man was not found.
Inquiries into the matter are continuing and police would now like to speak to a man who may be able to assist in the investigation.
The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance with a fair complexion, aged in his late 30s, about 170cm tall, with a long face, thin nose and of a solid build.
He was last seen wearing a navy blue jumper, fluorescent yellow vest, dark blue pants, brown work boots and black sunglasses.
Anyone who knows the man’s identity or has any information that could assist detectives is urged to come forward.
