Police have arrested three men who it will be alleged were about to carry out an armed robbery at Casula this morning.
Following a number of robberies in Sydney’s south west this month, police from Metropolitan Robbery Unit established Strike Force Abase to investigate the matters.
About 4.30am this morning (Friday 24 October 2014), officers from Strike Force Abase arrested a man outside a convenience store on Camden Valley Way, Casula.
Police will allege the 18-year-old Ashcroft man was about to commit an armed robbery on the store.
A short time later, following a foot pursuit, police arrested an 18-year-old Chipping Norton man.
An 18-year-old Miller man was also arrested in a nearby vehicle.
A crime scene was established at the scene where a replica firearm was located and seized for forensic examination.
Following the arrests, police from the Metropolitan Robbery Unit executed search warrants at homes in Newbridge Street, Chipping Norton and Strickland Crescent, Ashcroft where a number of items were seized for forensic examination.
The three men were taken to Liverpool Police Station where they were charged with robbery whilst armed with a dangerous weapon.
They have been bail refused to appear at Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow (Saturday 25 October 2014).
