Police are appealing for public assistance following an armed robbery at a liquor store in Canterbury yesterday afternoon.
Shortly before 4pm (Sunday 2 November 2014), a man entered the store on Canterbury Road and threatened the attendant with a knife while demanding cash.
A short time later the man fled the location with cash.
The attendant sustained a laceration to his shoulder during the incident and was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics, before being taken to Canterbury Hospital for further assessment.
Officers attached to Ashfield Local Area Command were contacted and launched an investigation into the incident.
A crime scene was established at the store and examined by detectives and specialist forensic officers.
Police also conducted extensive patrols of the surrounding area; however the man was not located.
Inquiries into the matter are continuing and police would now like to speak to a man who may be able to assist in the investigation.
The man is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, aged in his 20s, about 183cm tall and of a skinny build. He was last seen wearing a black long-sleeve shirt, long black pants, white shoes, a black bandana with a white pattern across his face and white gloves.
