Detectives from Hervey Bay Criminal Investigation Branch yesterday arrested and charged a 20-year-old man following investigations into three recent armed robbery offences.

A 20-year-old Urangan man has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court tomorrow facing two counts of armed robbery and one of attempted armed robbery.

The arrest follows investigations into the alleged armed robberies of an Elizaberth Street, Urangan hotel on May 21, and a Harbour Drive, Urraween tavern on June 20 and the attempted armed robbery of a Torquay hotel located on Charlton Esplanade, also on June 20.

It will be alleged that a man intimating that he was armed with a handgun stole cash during the robberies and that no one was injured.
