Police are investigating two aggravated robberies last night at Woodville West and West Lakes which police believe involve the same offender.

At 7.55 pm on Trimmer Parade, Woodville West, a man was robbed of his wallet and his car –  a white Ford Festiva by an offender armed with a knife.

At 8.20 pm, a man believed to be the same man from the earlier robbery entered the Woodlake Mini Mart on Frederick Road, West Lakes armed with a knife and threatened staff.

He stole two cash registers and a handbag before leaving in a white Ford Festiva.

Fortunately none of the victims were injured.

A short time later, police saw the stolen Ford Festiva travelling south on Frederick Road and pursued that vehicle to the junction of Frederick Road and Grange Road, where the driver abandoned the vehicle and ran off.

Despite an extensive search which included the police helicopter and a police dog, the man was not located.

However in the car was the cash registers, a handbag and a wallet.

The suspect is described as being 170-180cm tall, medium build, light brown coloured skin with scraggly brown hair to his shoulder.

He was wearing a dark hooded jumper with a large white motif on the front, black track pants with grey stripes down the legs.

At the time of the robberies the man was wearing a black balaclava.
