Police are appealing to the public for information following an armed robbery in Sydney’s west overnight. About 7.20pm yesterday (Tuesday 5 July 2011), two men entered a bottle shop on Merrylands Road, Merrylands. One of the men allegedly held a knife to the shop owner’s face and then his stomach, demanding that he open the cash register. After taking an amount of cash and some cigarettes, both men then fled the shop and were last seen running into Kiev Street, Merrylands. There they were joined by a third man. The shop owner was not injured during the alleged robbery. Police were contacted and attended the location shortly after. A canvass of the area was conducted with the assistance of the Dog Unit; however, the men could not be located. Detectives from Holroyd Local Area Command continue with their inquiries into the incident and now wish to speak to three men they believe may be able to assist with inquiries. The first man is described as being about 20 years old, 170cm tall, and with a medium build. He was wearing dark clothing, black gloves and a black balaclava. The second man is described as being about 20 years old, 160 cm tall, and with a slim build. He was also wearing gloves and a black balaclava. The third man is described as being about 170cm tall and with a slim build. He was wearing jeans and a red T-shirt.
