Police are investigating an armed robbery at a hotel in Sydney’s southwest this morning.

About 12.40am, two males armed with a firearm and knife entered the hotel on Harold Street in Macquarie Fields and threatened staff.

The pair, who had their faces covered, stole an amount of cash from the gaming room before running from the scene through an adjacent shopping centre.

There were 15 patrons inside the hotel at the time. One was taken to hospital suffering shock.

No shots were fired.

A crime scene was established by police from Macquarie Fields and inquiries to identify those involved will continue throughout the day.
