July 11, 2011 – Attempted Extortion – Arrests – Car Yard – Burwood

Gangs Squad detectives have arrested five men following an alleged attempted extortion at Burwood this afternoon.

About 3.30pm today, five men entered a car yard on Parramatta Road at Burwood where they demanded money from the owner.

Gangs Squad officers attached to Strike Force Embark arrested five men at the scene. The men are aged 24, 26, 27, 29 and 30. They were taken to Campsie Police Station where charges are expected to be laid.

Strike Force Embark was established to investigate the circumstances surrounding an incident at a car yard on Parramatta Road at Burwood, just before 3pm on Thursday 7 July, in which a number of luxury cars were driven from the premises.

Investigations into the incident on Thursday 7 July are continuing.
