Police have charged a man with a number of serious charges following investigations into a number of incidents yesterday afternoon.

It is alleged that a man entered a mobile phone store on Queen Street just before 4pm and stole property before leaving in a taxi.

A short time later a man entered a bank on Queen Street and approached the teller. The man allegedly made threats and demanded money but left empty handed after the teller refused.

It is alleged that the man entered a taxi and after travelling for a short time, threatened the driver with a knife forcing him the drive to a shopping complex on Rochdale Road at Springwood. The man then left the taxi cab for a short time after allegedly stealing the car keys.

The 29-year-old cab driver was able to leave the cab and sought assistance at a nearby store. He was not injured during the incident.

The taxi cab was then allegedly stolen and later located by police and intercepted on Ewing Road at Woodridge.

The 41-year-old Coorparoo man is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today charged with 11 offences including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, armed robbery, deprivation of liberty, threatening violence, attempted armed robbery and threatening violence.
