Three shots were fired into a car during an attempted armed robbery in Plumpton early this morning.
Police were called to City Vista Court after a report that shots had been fired during an armed robbery about 12.40am.
Investigators were told three people, an 18-year-old man from Mill Park, 19-year-old woman from Templestowe and 17-year-old woman from Thomastown, were driving in an unfamiliar area and pulled over to turn on their GPS.
While stationary, a red VX Holden Commodore has pulled up behind their vehicle and shot out a tyre.
A man with a firearm has approached the vehicle, thrusting the weapon through the partially opened driver’s window and demanding money and phones.
He has then shot out a second tyre.
Despite having two flat tyres, the driver has rapidly accelerated from the scene.
The offender has then fired another shot at the car, shattering the back window.
The male backseat passenger received minor injuries from the broken glass.
Police are now searching for the gunman.
