Police are appealing for information following the armed robbery of a hotel at Petersham last night.

About 11pm, Sunday 21 August 2011, two men forced entry to the hotel on New Canterbury Road by smashing the front door open.

Once inside the hotel the balaclava clad men, who were armed with a shotgun and a machete, confronted a security guard and the manager.

The manager was forced to handover a sum of cash before the two armed men fled the hotel.

Police were contacted and attended the scene where they established a crime scene which was examined by specialist forensic officers.

Despite a search of the area involving the use of the Dog Squad, the two men were unable to be located.

Marrickville Detectives are investigating the robbery and wish to speak to two men who have been described as being 25 – 30 years old, very tall with dark complexions and wearing dark-coloured clothing.
