Police from Griffith Local Area Command have charged a man with an armed robbery which occurred in Griffith last week.
About 3.35am on Friday 19 August, 2011, a male wearing a balaclava and dark clothing allegedly robbed a convenience store on Banna Avenue, Griffith. Police alleged he was armed with a shotgun at the time.
Police from Griffith Local Area Command commenced an investigation into the incident under Strike Force Asunta.
Following these inquiries, about 3.30pm today, a 23-year-old man was arrested at an address in Griffith.
He was taken to Griffith Police Station where he was charged with armed robbery as well as breach bail.
He was refused bail to appear at Griffith Local Court tomorrow (Friday 26 August 2011).
Detective Inspector Paul Smith says that police are working hard to solve these crimes as quickly as possible.
“This is the fourth person arrested for robbery related offences in the past fortnight in Griffith. The community can be assured that their local police are doing their utmost to ensure a safe community and get these people off the street.
“Police again stress community assistance is invaluable in solving these crimes, as it was in this incident,” Detective Inspector Smith said.
