Police are appealing for information to locate a man who might be able to assist with inquiries after the alleged robbery of a taxi driver.
About 7pm on Saturday (3 September 2011), a person hailed a taxi at Epping Railway Station asking the driver to take him to University Avenue at Macquarie Park.
The driver told police he was threatened with a knife and his passenger demanded money.
The passenger was given an amount of cash and left the cab.
He was last seen heading into the grounds of the nearby university. The taxi driver was not hurt during the robbery.
Eastwood Local Area Command Crime Manager Detective Inspector Jim Bilton said the driver told them the passenger in the taxi allegedly apologised for his actions.
“It is certainly an unusual remark,” Detective Inspector Bilton said.
A man depicted in the photograph taken at time might be able to assist with inquiries. He is described as being aged between 25-30 years and 175-180cm tall.
He has an olive complexion with brown hair and eyes and was wearing a hooded top.
