Police have charged three males following a break-in at a supermarket and subsequent pursuit in Sydney’s south and southwest this morning.
About 3am (Wednesday 21 September), information was received two men had forced their way inside the supermarket on Fowler Road at Illawong.
Police from Sutherland Local Area Command responded and saw a white Nissan sedan leaving the scene.
They attempted stop the car but it sped away.
A pursuit was initiated which travelled through Barden Ridge and along Heathcote Road into Liverpool.
The vehicle continued along the M5 and M7, before being cornered by police on Kurrajong Road at Prestons.
The Nissan rammed two police cars in a failed attempt to get away. When the Nissan stopped police arrested its three occupants.
Police found a large quantity of cigarettes in the car which it will be alleged are the proceeds of the break enter & steal.
The males, aged 19, 26 and 37, were taken to Liverpool Police Station and interviewed by Sutherland detectives.
At this stage, they have been charged with aggravated break, enter & steal. Further charges are likely, including Skye’s Law.
The trio has been refused bail to the Liverpool Local Court today.
