A man has been arrested after he allegedly assaulted and robbed a taxi driver this morning at West Lakes Shore.
At about 8am, the taxi driver had conveyed the man to West Lakes Shore and on arrival the suspect allegedly wrapped his belt around his fist and punched the taxi driver several times to the head and stole the coin dispenser.
Henley Beach patrols were quick to respond to the scene and located the suspect nearby along with the stolen money and coin dispenser.
A 26-year-old man from West Lakes Shore was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, theft and fail to pay taxi fare.
He was refused police bail and remanded in custody to the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday 24 October. The 37-year-old taxi driver was treated for minor facial injuries but didn’t require hospital treatment.
