Police have arrested a teenage boy after the alleged attempted armed robbery at a convenience store at Mackay yesterday afternoon.
Around 4.10pm a young male walked into a shop on Wood Street, he allegedly produced a replica firearm and demanded money from the attendant.
The attendant refused so the boy stole a packet of chewing gum and fled the store.
Police attended an address in South Mackay a short time later and arrested a 14-year-old boy.
The boy will be dealt with under the provision of the Youth Justice Act.
