Police are appealing for information after a woman was tied-up during the armed robbery of an office at North Sydney this morning.
About 8:45am, a 71-year-old woman was working in the café on Miller Street when she walked to a nearby office at the rear of the building.
Whilst in the foyer of the office the woman was approached from behind and threatened by a man armed with a knife.
Police have been told the man demanded money and access to the safe before tying the woman’s hands and feet up and striking her on the back of the head.
After unsuccessful attempts to access the safe the man stole her watch, necklace and car keys before fleeing the scene.
The woman was able to free herself and alert staff at the café where she was untied and police were called. She was later assessed by paramedics and cleared of any serious injuries.
Police and officers from the Forensic Armed Robbery Unit attended the premises and conducted examinations of the scene.
Detectives from Harbourside Local Area Command are conducting investigations into the robbery and wish to speak to a man described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, aged in his late 20s, 170cm tall with a medium build, black curly hair and dark brown eyes.
He was wearing navy blue long-sleeve top and long dark pants.
