Police have charged a man following an alleged armed robbery in Sydney’s west last night.

About 10pm (20 May), a man entered a service station on Wilberforce Road at Wilberforce.

He allegedly produced a large knife and threatened the service-station attendant before escaping the premises with cash, tobacco and cigarettes.

About 15 minutes later, police stopped and spoke to a man in Rose Street, Wilberforce, matching the description provided by the service-station attendant.

Police will allege they found a backpack in a nearby garden bed that contained items stolen from the business.

The 24-year-old Wilberforce man was subsequently arrested and charged with robbery while armed with an offensive weapon.

He was refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court today (21 May).
