One man has been arrested and police expect to charge two more following a kidnapping and armed robbery at a club in the State’s north-west earlier this year.

About 10pm on Sunday 28 August 2011, three men wearing balaclavas and armed with a handgun confronted a 59-year-old man in his home on Madden Street, Cobar.

Police were told the man was tied up and forced into his car before being driven to a licensed premises on Bloxham Street, Cobar, where he worked.

As the club closed, the three men allegedly forced entry to the auditorium, taking the man with them, and confronted two female employees who were subsequently tied up.

All three victims were detained in an office area.

The club was allegedly ransacked with money taken from a safe and poker machines and pieces of sporting memorabilia stolen.

The three men fled the scene and the car was later found burnt out on Prince Street.

Strike Force Nurran, a joint investigation by the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad and Darling River Local Area Command, was formed.

Last month, information was provided to police in Victoria and two men, aged 41 and 29, were arrested in that state on unrelated matters.

A search warrant conducted in Victoria led to the seizure of a number of items allegedly connected to the Cobar incident.

Yesterday (Wednesday 14 December 2011), Strike Force Nurran detectives executed search warrants at Merrylands and Peakhurst, seizing further items for forensic examination.

A 23-year-old Peakhurst man was spoken to by detectives and charged with aggravated break and enter, aggravated detain for advantage, aggravated assault, aggravated armed robbery and intentionally destroy property by fire.

He was refused bail to face Fairfield Local Court today.

Investigations under Strike Force Nurran are continuing and it is expected further charges will be laid.
