Detectives investigating a spate of alleged armed robberies, firearms offences and thefts throughout Sydney have charged a man with 20 offences.

Strike Force Buist was established last year by the Metropolitan Robbery Unit with the assistance of various Local Area Commands.

Since August 2011, Strike Force police have investigated reports of a series of armed robberies of convenience stores, hotels and brothels as well as a number of motor-vehicle thefts.

Strike Force Buist was formed after investigations led police to believe the alleged incidents were linked.

Following exhaustive inquiries, Strike Force Detectives spoke to a 23-year-old man at a Silverwater address yesterday (Wednesday 25 January 2012).

He was subsequently charged with a total of 20 offences, including firearms offences, and will appear in Central Local Court on 31 January 2012.
