Police are appealing for information from the public following an attempted armed robbery in Toongabbie yesterday.
About 12.35am (Sunday 29 January 2012), two men, both armed with shotguns, approached four employees as they were leaving the premises, where they work, in Station Street.
The men forced the two male and two female employees to re-enter the premises, while threatening them at gunpoint.
Once inside the business, which was closed at the time, the men demanded one of the male employees open the safe, whilst they threatened him with the firearm.
Whilst inside the premises one of the men fired a shot into the ceiling.
The employees were unable to open the safe.
Both of the men left the scene without taking anything.
Police attended the incident and established a crime scene, which was examined by forensic specialists.
One of the males has been described to police as Mediterranean/ Middle Eastern Appearance, 20 to 30 years of age, 188cm tall, medium build, short dark hair and dark brown eyes. He was wearing a grey knitted scarf which was covering his face, black gloves, dark coloured jacket and dark long pants.
The other male has been described to police as Mediterranean/ Middle Eastern Appearance, 20 to 25 years of age with a thin build. He was wearing blue jeans and a white jumper.
