A 32-year-old man will face court today charged with a series of robberies in Sydney’s south-west.

About 8.30pm on Sunday 18 December 2011, the man allegedly entered a convenience store on Elizabeth Drive and climbed over the counter, threatening harm to a shop attendant unless cash was received. The man was given a sum of money and left the store.

About 10pm on Thursday 5 January 2012, it is alleged the man entered a fast food restaurant on Memorial Avenue, Liverpool and assaulted a staff member, again demanding money. The man left the store without any proceeds after a security alarm was activated.

Police will allege that about 11pm on Thursday 19 January 2012, the man entered a service station on the Hume Highway at Liverpool and demanded money from a staff member, leaving with an amount of cash from the register.

About 5.40pm on Thursday 26 January 2012, the same man is alleged to have entered a bottle shop on the Hume Highway, Liverpool, and assaulted a staff member, asking he hand over money.

The man was interrupted by a passer-by, and left the shop empty-handed.

It is further alleged that about 9.30pm on Thursday (2 February 2012), the man entered a pharmacy on Scott Street, Liverpool and assaulted a worker, making off with cash.

Police from Liverpool Local Area Command have been investigating the robberies, and yesterday attended an address in Liverpool and arrested a 32-year-old man.

A search warrant was executed at the man’s home, where an amount of cash was seized.

The man was taken to Liverpool Police Station, where he was charged with three counts of robbery and two counts of assault with intent to rob.

He was refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Bail Court today (Saturday 4 February 2012).
