Police have appealed for information from the public after an armed robbery at a registered club in Tanilba Bay overnight.

Shortly after 10pm yesterday two staff members were in the process of closing the club in Lemon Tree Passage Road when four armed men rushed into the premises.

There were four patrons in the club when the men, three of whom were armed with knives and the fourth a handgun, demanded the safe and cash registers be opened or a staff member would be hurt.

Forcing their way behind the bar the offenders have ransacked the registers whilst the gunman took the bar manager to the safe and stole a quantity of cash.

The four males then fled from the premises on foot running towards the Koala Shores residential area.

Police from Port Stephens Local Area Command attended a short time later and established a crime scene.

Fortunately no one was injured during the incident.

The men have been described to police as being of Caucasian appearance in their late teens or early twenties, and wearing dark sports style clothing, with their faces covered.
