Police in the state’s central-west have released a COMFIT of a man who allegedly held a knife to a baby’s throat during an attempted robbery earlier this week.

About 7.15pm on Monday 23 May, a 36-year-old woman travelling on the Newell Highway, 5km south of Parkes, was flagged down by a man carrying a baby.

It is alleged the man approached the drivers-side window and demanded money, while holding a knife to the baby’s throat.

The woman left the scene and attended Parkes Police station where she reported the matter.

Detectives attached to Lachlan Local Area Command are investigating the incident and have released a COMFIT of a man they would like to speak to.

The man is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, approximately 180cm-185cm tall, aged 30-35 years and of slim build with a shaved head and ‘rat’s tail’.

It is believed the man was driving a white Holden Commodore which had large dents in the driver’s and rear passenger doors, and a strip missing from side of car.
