Police are investigating a series of break and enter offences across Ipswich and South Brisbane in the early hours of this morning. Around 1am a group of youths wearing masks smashed a glass window of a supermarket located near the Brisbane Valley Highway at Fernvale. Staff members inside the store at the time secured themselves in a room during the incident and were not physically injured. The offenders, who were wearing tracksuits, obtained a sum of cash and a quantity of cigarettes before fleeing the scene in a red sedan. Around 1.30am a vehicle of a similar description was seen outside a Junction Road supermarket at Karalee. It is believed youths were intending to break into the store before they were disturbed by witnesses. About 2.30am four juveniles used hammers to break into a bottle shop on Wecker Road at Mansfield. They stole a quantity of alcohol before fleeing in a red sedan. Investigations are continuing.
