Police have charged a man after the attempted armed robbery of a bakery in Bundaberg North this afternoon.

A man entered the Queen Street shop at around 3.15pm, allegedly armed with a knife.

He allegedly demanded cash from a female employee who challenged him, and the man left the store empty handed.

Police were called to the scene, and located the man in a nearby street.

A 36-year-old Svensson Heights man has been charged with attempted armed robbery, and is due to appear in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court tomorrow.
