Police are appealing for witnesses after a taxi driver was robbed in Southbank this morning.
Police have been told the driver picked a male passenger up at the intersection of Sturt Street and Southbank Boulevard just after 5am.
It is alleged the man produced a knife before demanding money and the keys to the taxi.
The victim handed over a small amount of cash and the keys.
The offender believed to be aged in his early 20s then fled the scene and was last seen running towards the city on St Kilda Road.
He is described as being Asian in appearance, 165cm tall, brown eyes with a thin build.
He was wearing a black cap with sunglasses above the brim, a black jacket and dark coloured suit pants.
The taxi driver was not injured during the incident.
Police have released images of a man that may assist with their enquiries.
