Police from the Eastern Beaches Local Area Command have charged two people following a robbery in Kensington yesterday.
About 2pm (Tuesday 31 May), a man and woman were walking along Houston Road when they were approached by two youths.
A 14-year-old male allegedly grabbed a wallet the woman was holding and attempted to run away from her. The woman gave chase and after a short struggle with the male, she managed to regain the wallet from him.
The man walking with the woman attempted to help her and was allegedly assaulted by the 14-year-old and knocked to the ground.
During this time a 14-year-old female allegedly assaulted the woman by punching her to the face.
Both youths then fled on foot.
Maroubra Police were alerted to the incident and located the youths who were found walking in a nearby street.
Both were arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station where they were charged with robbery in company causing wounding.
They were bail refused to appear at Parramatta Children’s Court today.
The man and woman both sustained facial injuries. The man was taken to Prince of Wales Hospital by Ambulance Paramedics for treatment.
