A teenager will appear in court today after he allegedly assaulted police during an arrest on Sydney’s lower North Shore yesterday.

Shortly before 2.30pm (Sunday 17 June 2012), police were called to a hotel on Military Road, Cremorne, following reports of a break-in and theft.

Officers attached to Harbourside Local Area Command attended and stopped a teenager nearby.

During checks police discovered the youth had outstanding warrants for his arrest.

It’s alleged the 17-year-old then repeatedly attempted to resist arrest before kicking a male officer in the leg.

The youth then allegedly pushed another male officer, causing him to fall and hit his head.

Further police were called and the 17-year-old was arrested and taken to North Sydney Police Station.

NSW Ambulance Paramedics treated the officers at the scene before one was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital with a head injury.

The 17-year-old was subsequently charged with the following offences:

  •  Wound police officer in execution of duty;
  • Assault police;
  • Resist arrest;
  • Break, enter and steal; and
  • Two outstanding warrants.

He was bail refused to appear at Bidura Children’s Court today (Monday 18 June 2012).
