Police are hunting for a man they believe is responsible for two armed robberies in Melbourne inner suburbs over the past week.
In both incidents it is believed the male has been in possession of a firearm and witnesses have commented on his well dressed appearance and shiny shoes.
The first incident occurred just after 9am on Saturday, 23 June at a convenience store on Mount Alexander Road, Ascot Vale.
The man has entered the store and stood at the counter waiting for the attendant, whereupon he has made a demand for cash and stated he was armed with a firearm.
The attendant, who was uninjured, has handed over a quantity of cash and the man has left the store, heading west along Regent Street on foot.
During this incident he was described as being aged 30-40 years old, around 175-180cm tall and Caucasian wearing a dark jacket, light blue cap and big black sunglasses.
The second incident occurred yesterday at around midday at a fast food restaurant on Smith Street, Collingwood.
The man has entered the store and after producing a firearm demanded that cash registers be opened.
This was not able to be done and the man has left the store on foot, heading north along Smith Street. No one was injured.
During this incident he has been described as being around 30 years old, thin build with dimples and wearing a black zip-up hooded jacket, blue jeans and black sunglasses.
Investigators are also releasing two images from CCTV of a man they would like to speak with in relation to these matters.
The Melbourne Embona Taskforce is investigating the armed robberies and are keen to hear from anyone with information about the incidents or who may be able to identify the man.
